2008 STREET STOCK RULES FOLLOWED BY 4 CYLINDER RULES
ELIGIBLE MODELS AND BODIES
1. Any 1970 or newer American made car with wheelbase of not less than 108 inches. Cars with wheel base longer than 108" must use rims with 4'' offset only. Offset measured at the inside of flange to the inside bead. Thunderbird and Cougar body styles with 106 inch wheelbase are also legal. Camaros, Novas, Mustangs, El Caminos, as well as cars with T-tops, sun roofs, or convertibles are not legal.
2. Body must be same make and model of car. Steel after market body panels are allowed. Body panels by Performance Bodies, Five Star or any other approved manufacture will be allowed. No home made roofs, home made body panels allowed with a minimum thickness of .024" before paint. Steel only. Must appear stock.
3. Front wheel wells (inner liner) may be removed.
4. No sharp objects allowed in driver’s compartment.
5. All doors must be welded or double chained.
6. Stock rocker panels, rear wheels, and all floor pan must be O.E.M. Rusted or damaged areas may be replaced with .024" minimum steel.
7. Minimum car weight 3000 lbs. Including driver as measured on track scales.
8. 3100 lbs. For 361 or larger cubic inches.
9. Stock fire wall in stock position.
10. No modification to frame. (You cannot shorten or add to frame, move or alter control arm mounting points). X-bracing allowed.
11. Left side weight 56% maximum.
SEAT AND DASH ASSEMBLY
1. Dashboard may be removed only if it is replaced by a roller dash hoop or bar.
2. Racing type seat belts required (four or five point).
3. Racing seat is legal. (Aluminum recommended).
4. Steering column shaft must be collapsible.
BUMPERS AND BRACING
1. No extra bracing or plating of any kind. Front hoop is allowed in front of radiator, 1 3/4" maximum diameter.
2. Bumpers must be wrapped into sheet metal to prevent hooking.
WINDSHIELD AND GLASS
1. All glass (including headlight, tail light, etc.) must be removed except for the front windshield.
2. Lexan windshield is legal.
3. One stock position or wide angle racing mirror allowed. No side view mirrors.
ROLLCAGE AND SIDE BARS
1. Car must have at least a four point rollcage. Rollcage must have at least three bars on driver’s door, and two bars on passenger door. Full rollcage is legal. Driver’s door must have 1/8" steel panel at least 18" high welded to side bars.
2. Roll bar must be located directly behind driver and close to roof of car.
3. Driver’s compartment must have complete rollcage padding. Inside driver’s door must have 1" minimum padding.
4. Rollcage may extend through front firewall; but cannot reinforce the end or core support. Rollcage must end behind core support with any bars behind radiator.
5. Rollcage may not reinforce the body or bumpers.
6. Cars with unsafe or poorly constructed rollcages will not be allowed to race. Rollcage construction will be CLOSELY inspected.
HOOD LATCHES
1. Factory hood and truck latches may be removed and replaced with pins or straps.
2. Trunk and hood mast be easily opened.
3. Padding under hood must be removed.
4. Rear spoiler allowed. 6" maximum.
SUSPENSION
1. Suspension must be at stock height (reasonable level).
2. Street stock type racing shocks allowed (one per wheel). Must be in stock location. No RE-BUILDABLE OR ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS ALLOWED. Front shocks value less than $100.
FRONT SHOCKS MAY BE HEIM JOINT SHOCKS MOUNTED MID-AM STYLE.
3. Cut or rated springs allowed. SCREW JACKS ALLOWED.
4. Minimum cross member height five inches. No other structures may extend below cross member i.e. weight devices.
5. No rear sway bar allowed. Front sway bar may be mounted and adjustable (Mid-Am Style).
6. Suspension components must be stock for your make and model. After market bushings are allowed.
Aftermarket Tubular Steel Upper A-Frames allowed.
7. Lead ballast must be mounted on top of, or on the side of the frame with ½" bolts minimum. No weight is to be hanging down below the frame. Absolutely NO straps, wire ties, wires, quick ties, etc. is to be used to secure lead ballast.
GAS TANK AND FUEL
1. Stock gas tank must be replaced with racing fuel cell.
2. Tank must be securely mounted above trunk floor and as far forward as possible.
3. Tank must fill from inside trunk, no fuel lines in the driver’s compartment.
4. Rear firewall must completely seal trunk area from the driver’s compartment.
5. No electrical fuel pumps.
6. Fuel; Gas only. No alcohol or oxygen bearing additives.
UNALTERED DEFINITION
All engine parts must be in their original and “as cast” configuration. Any evidence of matching, polishing, relieving, grinding, porting, coating, chemical treating, abrasive blasting or any other alterations to the original form or the addition of any material whatsoever to any ports or chambers is prohibited. NO ANTI-FREEZE
ENGINE
The
2009 season will be engine cubic inch maximum of 358 Chevy, 361 Ford and
Chrysler.
1. Claim rule: The track may claim any engine in street stock division for $600.00. Claim includes complete engine, minus exhaust manifold. Refusal of claim will suspend car and driver for four racing programs: with loss of points and money on claim night.
2. Stock production small block engines only. No 202 Chevy heads, straight plug heads only.
3. Hydraulic cam not to exceed .500 valve lift. Engine must have at least 12 inches vacuum at idle (1000 rpm or less) on tech inspector’s gauge.
4. Stock, factory cast intake and exhaust manifolds. No high rise or open plenum intake manifolds. Spec header (flow tech #11108 is optional).
5. Exhaust must be tight and leak free. Final 24 inches must be two inch inside diameter and must have no side exit outside of body. Must exit below floor pan behind driver. Two outlets allowed.
6. Stock engine location only.
7. Flat top pistons allowed. No domed piston of any kind. Compression not to exceed 200 lbs. On inspectors gauge with 6 hits. (Fords allowed 210 lbs.)
8. Stock rocker arms and stock ratio only.
9. Stock valve spring diameter only.
10. Radiator must have a secure overflow tank of at least one gallon.
11. No strokers. Stock factory ignition only.
12. Vortec heads allowed untouched.
13. Oil pan must have 1" inspection hole that is easily accessible.
CARBURETOR
1. Holley 350 cfm (0-7448) two barrel is the only legal carburetor. A one inch adapter plate may be used.
2. Must retain choke horn, choke plate may be removed. Main jetting is OK.
3. Carburetor must be unaltered. Must pass inspection with track tech tools.
BATTERY
1. One 12 volt battery only. Jell type battery highly recommended.
2. Battery must be securely mounted with more than a bungee cord.
3. Battery box must be used when installed in driver’s compartment and have a disconnect switch easily accessible to the safety crew.
4. Battery mounting: box and cover must pass tech inspection or car will not be allowed on track.
TRANSMISSION AND REAREND
1. Stock, automatic transmission only. Transmission must have working torque converter. Converter: 12", 11" or 10 inch only.
2. Extra transmission oil cooler allowed.
3. Rear axle may be welded or locked.
4. The complete rearend assembly must be stock for your year car.
5. No cambered rear end.
6. Steel drive shaft only.
TIRES AND WHEELS
1. Maximum wheel width: seven inches. No aluminum wheels. No light weight wheels. Minimum rim weight 21 lbs.
2. Oversize lug nuts required. Reinforced or racing type steel wheels recommended.
3. Offset: three or four inch offset wheel allowed. (No wheel spacers.)
4. New tire rule. Optional tire: 70,75,or 78 series tires. Maximum size 255/70R15 (same as last year). Optional tire: Hoosier Short Track Series 7" tread size 26.5/7.0-15, 27.0/7.0-15,
27.5/7.0-15.
5. No recap tires allowed.
6. No shaving tires. No tire softeners allowed.
7. Coleman hub highly recommended. New hoosier tire will be available at the track.
NUMBER ASSIGNMENT
1. All cars must be neatly painted and professionally lettered. Light colors are recommended, cars using dark base colors must have sufficient lettering and contrasting light colors to color 1/3 of body.
2. Numbers must be a minimum of 18" high located on both sides of car and roof. A 6" number is required on the left headlight cap or nosepiece. Roof number must face the passenger side.
3. Advertising-nicknames etc. are allowed. Any indecent and/or profane lettering will not be allowed. NO DUPLICATE NUMBERS.
MISCELLANEOUS
1. Approved helmet required. Snell 2000 certification, SFI or Snell approved sticker must be visible. “DRIVER’S SUITS MANDATORY”
2. No high performance products. No extra tanks, pumps, or weight transfer devices allowed.
3. Mandatory ground strap from fuel cell to frame.
Failure to present a car for inspection when requested to do so, or refusal to take steps requested by tech inspectors will be considered an admission of guilt and will be grounds for disqualification.
FOUR CYLINDER DIVISION RULES
This class of cars has been developed to permit those desiring to try stock car racing to do so at an absolute minimum cost. This is an ABSOLUTE STOCK division, unless specifically listed below. ALL GRUNDY COUNTY SPEEDWAY GENERAL RULES APPLY.
This is a claimer class. The claim will include the entire car with the exception of race harness, race seat, after-market gas tank, window net and fire extinguisher, if equipped with these items. The claim amount is $250.00 outright by the track plus $50.00 for roll bar or $150 for roll cage.
Any 4 cylinder front wheel drive car (Except Ford Probe) with a maximum wheelbase of 103" or less and a complete stock body, interior, frame and suspension. No bracing anywhere except inside the driver’s compartment (if roll bar equipped). Dash, interior, steering and pedals MUST remain completely stock for that make of car. NO 4 wheel steer cars.
ROLL BARS/CAGES: OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: No portion of any bar or cage may pass through firewall to hook or stiffen the frame beyond the area of the driver’s compartment. If cage is mounted to the floor pan, a 12" x 12" steel plate should be used at hoop mounting points. DRIVER SIDE DOOR BARS OR STEEL PLATE ARE MANDATORY. Driver’s door must be welded or chained shut. It is your responsibility to construct a cage assembly capable of protecting you from injury.
TIRES/WHEELS: Maximum rim diameter is 15". Stock wheel-no after market allowed. All wheels must be of same size. Approved passenger car tires only (Maximum size 70's). NO low profile tires which must all be the same size. Over-sized lug nuts recommended. Fenders may be trimmed or cut out. No homemade, custom made or modified wheels. No modifications to wheel flanges or wheel stud patterns. Only 13" or 14" wheels can run tire sizes 165 thru 195 60/65/70.
FUEL TANK: Cars without the fuel pump mounted in the tank must use a cell or marine type tank mounted in the trunk. Stock tanks allowed if mounted in front of the rear axle.
Cells are recommended. Tank must be securely fastened to the floor. Tanks must not be mounted within 10" of the rear panel or extend beyond the frame rails. Maximum size is 5 gallons. Cells required on wagons. Cars equipped with electric fuel pumps must install a toggle switch clearly marked at the base of the drivers “A” pillar.
No fuel lines inside the car. Steel lines must fit tight against bottom of floor pan. Use high pressure fuel hose at ends for final commections.
BODY: Complete removal of all interior flammable materials. All glass except windshield removed. Lexan windshield approved. Air-conditioner compressors, smog pumps, excess wiring and heaters may be removed but holes in dash must be covered. After-market gauges may be installed. A single plane rear spoiler with a maximum height of 5" is allowed. After-market driver’s seat allowed.
ENGINE: Complete stock motor-no modifications. Must run stock air cleaner for that car. Untouched stock manifolds for that motor.
TRANS & REAR AXLE: Stock, un-modified trans and transaxle, as manufactured with working forward and reverse gears.
BATTERY: Battery may be relocated under the hood but must be securely tied.
EXHAUST: No open manifolds. Exhaust must exit behind driver under car.
17731 or 17732. REMOVAL OR GUTTING OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS ALLOWED.
COOLING: Any stock radiator allowed which will fit in the stock brackets. Water coolant ONLY. 180 degree fan shroud mandatory. Over-flow container under the hood.
BUMPERS: Stock appearing bumpers must be used but can not be reinforced.
Remember this is a HOBBY class division and is designed to give the new driver a chance to develop his or her talents. As many laps will be given this division each night as time allows. The purse will be very minimal but a trophy will be awarded. If you are under age 18, please check with the sign-in booth for instructions
Helmet-Snell SA 2000 or newer.
Window net required.
Fire suit recommended. Full coverage clothing from wrist and neck to ankle. Eye protection and gloves mandatory.
Tow hooks required.
No two-way radios or any other cell phones, etc.
